GREEH HOUSE GAS (GHG) / FUGITIVE EMISSION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
What are Green House Gases?
Greenhouse gases trap heat in the atmosphere and thus, raise the surface
temperature of the earth. They are mostly released from
industrial facilities, pipelines, vehicles, heavy trucks, power
generating sets, and a host of other equipment. These emissions can
have huge impacts on environment and climate change which can result
to flooding of coastal areas, desertification of fertile areas,
melting of the glacial masses and the proliferation of devastating
hurricanes.
United Nations’ Climate Agreements
The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate change which was adopted by 196 Parties at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris, on 12
December 2015 and entered into force on 4 November 2016. Its goal is to hold “the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels” and pursue efforts “to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.” Nigeria is a signatory to this Paris agreement.
The Kyoto Protocol was adopted on 11 December 1997 and entered into force on 16 February 2005. Currently, there are 192 Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, and Nigeria is a party to the protocol.
The Kyoto Protocol operationalizes the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change by committing industrialized countries and economies in transition to limit and reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions in accordance with agreed individual targets.
ALFA DESIGNS’ GHG/FUGITIVE EMISSION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Alfa Designs Nigeria Limited is committed to ensuring
effective management of greenhouse gases & fugitive emissions by effectively detecting and quantifying the emissions using the EyeCGas 2.0 optical gas imaging camera. The EyeCGas 2.0, developed by Opgal Optronics Industries in Israel, is the world’s most sensitive handheld Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) camera and the only optical camera with cost effective and accurate emission quantification capabilities in the world. It can quickly identify fugitive and greenhouse gases emissions and quantifies the emission amount for over 400 hydrocarbon and VOC gases including Methane and CO2.
In addition, Alfa Designs already have a formidable GHG
Accounting team capable of carrying out emission testing,
data collection and quantification as required. The team has undergone training
from the OEM (Opgal Optronics Industries Limited) &
are fully certified for Level II LDAR category.
ALFA DESIGNS & OPGAL IN NAIROBI EXHIBITION, JULY 2024
Alfa Designs and Opgal were also present at the Oil & Gas Exhibition in Nairobi, Kenya in July 2024 to showcase our EyeCGas 2.0 Optical Gas Imaging Camera:
ALFA DESIGNS & OPGAL IN TANZANIA EXHIBITION, OCTOBER 2024
Alfa Designs and Opgal were also present at the just concluded 8th Oil & Gas
